Adrian Steinherr proposed as President and Markus Pfister proposed as new member of the Committee

 

The Committee of the SSPA will be proposing to the Meeting of Delegates of 26 September 2019 that Adrian Steinherr (UBS, previously Vice-President) should be appointed as new President and Markus Pfister (Vontobel) as a new member of the Committee. They will be assuming the responsibilities of Georg von Wattenwyl, who has been involved in the Committee of the SSPA for 10 years and who has acted as President since 2014. He will in future be concentrating on the tasks and functions he performs for Vontobel and as President of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. 

 

Zurich, 3 September 2019. Adrian Steinherr has been a member of the SSPA Committee since 2016. Within the Knowledge Department, which is central to the industry, he has worked to promote knowledge and understanding of structured products, latterly as Vice-President. In his capacity as Managing Director, he is responsible at UBS for cross-asset derivatives and derivatives sales trading. Thanks to his long-standing experience and wide-ranging expertise, Adrian Steinherr has in-depth understanding of client requirements as well as the requirements of the industry. As the new President, Adrian Steinherr is determined to use his wide-ranging expertise and his excellent network to meet the needs of all stakeholders as effectively as possible through efficient Association work. Valentin Vonder Mühll, who is to be appointed as the new Vice-President, is an existing member of the Committee and Global Head of Derivatives Trading at Pictet.

 

Markus Pfister, Vontobel, will be proposed to the Meeting of Delegates for election to the Committee. Markus Pfister has worked in the field of derivatives and structured products in a variety of senior positions for over 20 years. For example, he was the long-standing head of the Financial Products Engineering & Development Unit at Vontobel. On 1 January 2019 Markus Pfister was appointed Chief Operating Officer for Vontobel’s Investment Banking Unit. He has already supported the Association with his broad knowledge in conjunction with a variety of Association projects and heads the Risk Commission of the Association.

 

Georg von Wattenwyl will hand over his functions and responsibilities following the Meeting of Delegates, after having worked for the Association for 10 years. He has been committed to the interests and concerns of the industry, firstly as a member of the Committee and since 2014 as President of the Association. Georg von Wattenwyl played a decisive role in the development of the Association and the industry with tremendous energy and foresight. “Our industry has steadily raised its profile in recent years. The SSPA has made a significant contribution to this, thanks to its committed members, who cover the interests of the entire industry value chain. It has always been a great pleasure for me to participate in this innovative Association and actively to shape the future of the industry. Having worked for the Association for the past decade, I am now pleased to place responsibility for the management of the Association in new hands,” declared Georg von Wattenwyl.
