Markus Pfister takes over the presidency

The SSPA Executive Committee has elected Markus Pfister (Vontobel) as its new President with immediate effect. Markus Pfister will take over from Adrian Steinherr (UBS), who has decided to leave the bank due to differences of opinion. He will continue to support the SSPA in central projects until the Committee is complete again. The succession process has been initiated.  

Zurich, 28 October 2019. Markus Pfister has held various management positions in the derivatives and structured products sector for over 20 years, the last 15 years at Vontobel. There he was jointly responsible for building up the Structured Products business and headed the Financial Products Engineering & Development division for a long time. Markus Pfister has been Chief Operating Officer of Vontobel’s Investment Banking division since the beginning of this year. He has already supported the Association with his broad knowledge in various projects and was elected to the SSPA Committee at the last Assembly of Delegates. “I would like to thank the Committee for the confidence it has placed in me as its new President. Together with my colleagues of the Committee, I would like to further develop the industry association and give further impetus to the structured products industry,” said Markus Pfister, commenting on his goals as President.

Adrian Steinherr had been a member of the SSPA Committee since 2016 and had been responsible in particular for modern and innovative knowledge transfer and education. Adrian Steinherr was elected as the new President of the SSPA at the Delegates’ Meeting in 2019.  “I enjoyed working on the Committee of the innovative SSPA industry association and working closely with its committed members. I would like to express my sincere thanks for the great support. I would have liked to have made a further contribution to the development of the Association,” commented Adrian Steinherr.
