Third Swiss financial fair for structured products: Knowledge platform for private investors and independent asset managers

Renowned financial specialists from Switzerland and abroad will come together with issuers and investors at the Structured Products Fair held at the Kongresshaus Zurich for the third time on October 21 and 22, 2009. The fair, jointly organized by Scoach Switzerland Ltd and the Swiss Structured Products Association SSPA, once more offers a wealth of information on the financial markets, the ways in which structured products can be used, and how they work. For the first time this year, the fair features five educational seminars aimed explicitly at independent asset managers.

Demand for structured products on the Scoach exchange is good, and the market for new issues is operating at a stable level. To ensure that the information available and the understanding of structured products improve continuously, the organizers have once more put together a comprehensive accompanying program this year. Dr. Thomas Held will speak at the opening of the fair on October 21, 2009. Furthermore, the Director of Avenir Suisse will discuss on the first day a new order for financial markets together with Gerold Buehrer, President of economiesuisse, Dr. Urs Ph. Roth, Chief Executive Officer of the Swiss Bankers Association, and Dr. Urs Rueegsegger, CEO of SIX Group. The roundtable will be moderated by Daniel Hanimann, head of the economy and stock exchange segments of SF Tagesschau, Swiss television’s news show. A further highlight of the opening day will be a presentation by economic expert Marc Faber, who will examine whether an expansive monetary and financial policy leads to higher inflation rates. On the second day of the fair, Martin Spieler, Editor-in-Chief of the Handelszeitung, will lead a discussion of the market outlook with Janwillem Acket, Group Chief Economist of Bank Julius Baer, Marco Curti, Head of Research at Zuercher Kantonalbank, Prof. Dr. JanEgbert Sturm, Head of the KOF Swiss Economic Institute at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), and Dr. Klaus W. Wellershoff, an independent business consultant. For the first time this year, a total of five educational seminars aimed at independent asset managers will take place over both days of the fair on the topics of supervision in a changing environment, tax treatment of structured products, the problem of distribution

compensation, regulatory mechanisms and a code of conduct, as well as sources of friction between clients and independent asset managers. The accompanying program will be rounded out by lectures and presentations by exhibitors. Further information on the Structured Products Fair can be found at www.stp-messe.ch.
