Daniel Sandmeier resigns as Association president

Swiss Structured Products Association president Daniel Sandmeier will resign as president at the end-of-October delegate meeting. The SSPA Committee will nominate Georg von Wattenwyl, presently Association vice-president, to replace him.

Zürich, September 11, 2014. Daniel Sandmeier (Credit Suisse) has contributed greatly to the development of the Association itself and that of the structured products industry as a whole. First as committee member, and since 2010 as Association president, he promoted the interests and concerns of the industry with great drive and farsightedness. Now Mr. Sandmeier intends to devote himself to new challenges. Comments Mr Sandmeier: “In recent years the SSPA has successfully established itself as an expert place of contact, representing Association interests in all matters concerning structured products. Our main focus has been passing on vital knowledge, greater transparency, establishing standards and the ever-tightening body of regulations, in every case promoting our industry’s interests to great effect. After eight years of devoting myself to the Association I’m ready to pass on the baton”. The SSPA committee and its business office wish to express their thanks to Mr Sandmeier for the great commitment he has shown, and wish for him much success in his future endeavors.

To ensure careful recruitment of the new committee member, the delegate meeting – originally scheduled to be held in late September – has been postponed to October 28. The committee has nominated to the position of president current vice-present Georg von Wattenwyl (Bank Vontobel), who has actively contributed to Association policy as committee member since 2011. After many years of working with structured products, Mr. von Wattenwyl has profound expert knowledge and wide-ranging experience in this area. It also nominates Philipp Rickenbacher (Julius Bär) as the new vice-present, both to be confirmed by the delegate meeting.
